Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the Speak JP app ("Learn Japanese: Speak & Listen", "Speak JP", "we") collects, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as possible.
What stays on your device
- Your learning data — saved words, reviews, path and lesson progress, your daily goal and study time, settings and history are stored on your device.
- Your voice — when you practise a line ("echo"), your recording is stored only on your device so you can play it back next to the line. We never upload recordings.
- Echo scores — to score an echo, Speak JP uses Apple's speech recognition with its on-device-only option: your voice is recognised on your iPhone and is not sent over the network for this. iOS shows Apple's standard speech-recognition permission text, which also covers Apple's server-based recognition; Speak JP does not use that. If your iPhone cannot recognise Japanese on the device, the app says so and does not score the echo.
- Reminders — study reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device.
What we collect
- Account — an account is required to use Speak JP. We store:
- your email address (with email sign-up, your password is stored only as a secure hash — we can never see it);
- with Sign in with Apple: Apple's stable user identifier for Speak JP (the "subject" of Apple's sign-in token) and the email Apple shares with us — this can be a private relay address if you choose "Hide My Email" — and a token from Apple that we keep only to revoke Sign in with Apple when you delete your account;
- an optional first name;
- your learning profile: onboarding answers (your level, target date, daily minutes and reminder time) and progress settings, so we can set up your plan;
- technical sign-in records kept by the sign-in service (account creation and last sign-in time, and the IP address of sign-in requests, used for security and abuse prevention).
- Clip reports — if you report a problem with a clip, we store the clip, the reason you picked, your optional note, the app version and app language with your account ID, so we can fix or remove the clip.
- Subscription status — payments are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription or free trial is active; RevenueCat receives an app user ID (your Speak JP account ID once you sign in) and your App Store purchase receipts, not your payment details.
- Lesson content — the app downloads lesson content (subtitles, translations and word lists) from our content server on Cloudflare. Like any web server, it receives your IP address with each request; we do not use it to identify you.
Where your account data is stored
Account data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase, on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany; AWS eu-central-1). Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and access is limited to your own account by database access rules. Account emails (such as password-reset links) are sent through Cloudflare Email Service from speakjp@doesonejob.com. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use analytics or advertising trackers in the app.
Deleting your account
- In the app: Me › Settings › Account & data › Delete account. After you confirm, your account and everything stored with it (email, Apple identifier, name, learning profile, clip reports) are permanently deleted from our server right away (Sign in with Apple access is revoked at Apple too), and the app removes your learning data from the device.
- By email: write to speakjp@doesonejob.com from your account's email address and we will delete your account within 14 days.
- Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription — cancel it in iPhone Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions. If you used Sign in with Apple, you can also stop using it for Speak JP in iPhone Settings › Apple ID › Sign-In & Security › Sign in with Apple.
Videos from YouTube
Speak JP does not host or store videos. Clips are played from YouTube through YouTube's official embedded player. When a video plays, YouTube (Google) may collect information according to the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.
Children
Speak JP is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
- Export your saved words at any time (Me › Settings › Backup & export).
- Delete your account and data in the app (Me › Settings › Account & data › Delete account), or email us (see above).
- You can use the app's learning features without granting microphone, speech recognition or notification permission; only echo recording and scoring need them.

- Yankı puanları — yankını puanlamak için Speak JP, Apple'ın konuşma tanımasını yalnızca cihaz üzerinde çalışma seçeneğiyle kullanır: sesin iPhone'unda tanınır ve bunun için ağ üzerinden gönderilmez. iOS, Apple'ın sunucu tabanlı tanımayı da kapsayan standart izin metnini gösterir; Speak JP onu kullanmaz. iPhone'un Japoncayı cihaz üzerinde tanıyamıyorsa uygulama bunu söyler ve yankıyı puanlamaz.
- Hatırlatmalar — çalışma hatırlatmaları cihazında planlanan yerel bildirimlerdir.
Topladıklarımız
- Hesap — Speak JP'yi kullanmak için hesap gerekir. Sakladıklarımız:
- e-posta adresin (e-postayla kayıtta şifren yalnızca güvenli bir özet (hash) olarak saklanır, biz göremeyiz);
- Apple ile girişte: Apple'ın Speak JP için verdiği sabit kullanıcı kimliği (Apple giriş belirtecinin "subject" alanı) ve Apple'ın bizimle paylaştığı e-posta ("E-postamı Gizle"yi seçersen bu özel bir yönlendirme adresi olabilir) ve yalnızca hesabını sildiğinde Apple ile girişi iptal edebilmek için sakladığımız bir Apple belirteci;
- isteğe bağlı adın;
- öğrenme profilin: planını kurmak için başlangıç cevapların (seviyen, hedef tarihin, günlük dakikan ve hatırlatma saatin) ve ilerleme ayarların;
- giriş hizmetinin tuttuğu teknik kayıtlar (hesap oluşturma ve son giriş zamanı, giriş isteklerinin IP adresi; güvenlik ve kötüye kullanımı önleme için).
- Klip bildirimleri — bir klipteki sorunu bildirirsen klibi, seçtiğin nedeni, isteğe bağlı notunu, uygulama sürümünü ve dilini hesap kimliğinle birlikte saklarız; böylece klibi düzeltir ya da kaldırırız.
- Abonelik durumu — ödemeleri Apple işler. Aboneliğinin ya da ücretsiz denemenin aktif olup olmadığını kontrol etmek için RevenueCat kullanırız; RevenueCat bir uygulama kullanıcı kimliği (giriş yaptıktan sonra Speak JP hesap kimliğin) ve App Store satın alma makbuzlarını alır, ödeme bilgilerini almaz.
- Ders içeriği — uygulama ders içeriğini (altyazılar, çeviriler ve kelime listeleri) Cloudflare'daki içerik sunucumuzdan indirir. Her web sunucusu gibi o da her istekte IP adresini alır; bunu seni tanımak için kullanmayız.
Hesap verilerin nerede saklanır
Hesap verileri arka uç sağlayıcımız Supabase'te, Avrupa Birliği'ndeki (Frankfurt, Almanya; AWS eu-central-1) sunucularda saklanır. Veriler aktarım sırasında şifrelenir (HTTPS) ve veritabanı erişim kuralları her hesabın yalnızca kendi verisine erişmesine izin verir. Hesap e-postaları (ör. şifre sıfırlama bağlantıları) speakjp@doesonejob.com adresinden Cloudflare Email Service ile gönderilir. Verilerini satmayız, reklam göstermeyiz ve uygulamada analiz ya da reklam izleyicisi kullanmayız.
Hesabını silmek
- Uygulamadan: Ben › Ayarlar › Hesap ve veriler › Hesabı sil. Onayladığında hesabın ve ona bağlı her şey (e-posta, Apple kimliği, ad, öğrenme profili, klip bildirimleri) sunucumuzdan hemen ve kalıcı olarak silinir (Apple ile giriş erişimi Apple'da da iptal edilir); uygulama da öğrenme verilerini cihazdan kaldırır.
- E-postayla: hesabının e-posta adresinden speakjp@doesonejob.com adresine yaz; hesabını 14 gün içinde sileriz.
- Hesabı silmek App Store aboneliğini iptal etmez; iPhone Ayarlar › Apple Kimliği › Abonelikler'den iptal et. Apple ile giriş kullandıysan Speak JP için kullanımını iPhone Ayarlar › Apple Kimliği › Giriş ve Güvenlik › Apple ile Giriş'ten de durdurabilirsin.
YouTube'daki videolar
Speak JP videoları barındırmaz veya depolamaz. Klipler YouTube'un resmî gömülü oynatıcısıyla YouTube'dan oynatılır. Bir video oynatıldığında YouTube (Google), Google Gizlilik Politikası ve YouTube Hizmet Şartları uyarınca bilgi toplayabilir.
Çocuklar
Speak JP 13 yaşından küçük çocuklara yönelik değildir ve onlardan bilerek kişisel bilgi toplamayız.
Seçeneklerin
- Kaydettiğin kelimeleri istediğin zaman dışa aktarabilirsin (Ben › Ayarlar › Yedek ve dışa aktarma).
- Hesabını ve verilerini uygulamadan silebilir (Ben › Ayarlar › Hesap ve veriler › Hesabı sil) ya da bize e-posta gönderebilirsin (yukarıya bak).
- Uygulamanın öğrenme özelliklerini mikrofon, konuşma tanıma ya da bildirim izni vermeden kullanabilirsin; bu izinler yalnızca yankı kaydı ve puanı için gerekir.
Değişiklikler ve iletişim
